Wow and Aloha from Kauai. I was graduated from Tulare
Union High School in 1952. While there, learned radio
from Nelson Witte, whose call, or school call, I cannot
recall to save myself. However, Mr. Witte, as we of course
called him taught me radio, radio shop, electricity, etc.,
and of course CW and how to get my license, which
I did, in the early Fall of 1950. Loved that big kW
AM rig set up he had in the back of the upstairs
class room; watching that thing, with those big
tubes and pulsing mercury vapor rectifier tubes
was more than enough to convince me to become
a ham. While I was there TV came to Tulare, via
big tall antenna set ups in everyone's yards rcv'g
pix from LA. Unfortunately for us, that became the
near end of Mr.. Witte's rigs. He was still busy when
I left town sometime later attempting to TVI shield
all his rigs, two or so at school and big set ups
at his home. Lost all contact with him and Tulare,
unfortunately. Except my wife graduated from
Tulare high school also in 1954; we were married
10 days later, went together all through high school.
Are still married; will h have our 45th this summer.
Oh man, sorry to dump all this on you guys, but
got so excited when I saw you were from Tulare
and Fresno. I have just been told by Radiodan,
that my new Henry Ultra amp will probably
be shipped out here soon! Now all I have
to do is wait and anticipate how soon, soon
will be, hi.
