A SSB rig runs 30-35% average power unless its in screaming contest/DX mode 
with the compressor cranked well beyond distortion. Then it can be around 
60%.
In CW 50% is a nominal number.

There is no code or safety reason for a legal limit amp to run a 20A 240V 
connector even in RTTY.

Not at full continuous load unless you're broadcasting. You can't contest 
that way.

Yes - but an amp at contest time usually runs more than 3 hours at a shot.
