I have a vague memory that one of the valve/tube manufacturers suggests
limiting discharge current to 40-50A for 'normal' tubes, which would imply a
higher resistance. Can anyone confirm/correct please?
Eimac has a discharge limit for their tubes, depending on size.
It is not in current, but in Joules.
The resistance and wattage of the glitch resistor depends on
several things, such as the size of the filter capacitor(s), the
speed of the breakers/fuses in the power supply primary, and
the max. Joule rating for the tube(s) being utilized. Eimac has
a detailed data sheet on how to select and test a glitch resistor
for proper operation. Glitch resistors are like parasitic suppressors
and plate chokes. They must be selected and tested for each
particular tube/component selection. There is no "one size fits all" solution.
