I have no experience with the DX-35.

The only Heath rigs I have measured on AM are the Apache,
DX-100, and DX-60 series.

The Johnson rigs are real good with very minor changes. Many
of the Internet mods cause problems, so be careful about all
the super-duper 130% audio 10Hz to 30,000Hz BS that is
floating around. Just a couple capacitors and some minor
screen circuit and bias changes are all that is necessary.
The engineers back then weren't as stupid or careless as
some people seem to think. Half the Internet mods I see are
necessary to fix problems other Internet mods cause.
