Chris,
Why don't you bring all of the stuff down here and we can hash this out? I
thought you were in Barstow or Temecula or somewhere thereabouts? The RF
deck was actually on the air, by me, on 80 and 40 meters with 1500 watts out
with a SMALL plate xmfr out of my HB single 3-500Z deck. If you are unhappy
with the choke then we can work out a swap, ergo, I will take that choke
back and I can give you another choke with higher L. The one you got was
rated at abt 1/2 amp ccs and if I recall was at least 4uH, which is well
above the critical value for (3) 3-500s in parallel due to the high current.
That xmfr is a mil-spec unit that will loaf at 1amp of plate current (if I
recall it weighs 120 pounds). I used it on several 3-500Z decks with no
problems. Mil-spec xmfrs are generally rated at about 150% of what they will
safely do.
I would rather that you bring all of the stuff with you and we can walk
through each piece one by one as long as I know when you want to come down.
I can sure make the time.
