Has anyone done an Alpha 76A 8877 conversion?

I'd be starting with a 2 holer that's been upgraded to a bigger Dahl
transformer, been recapped, and otherwise in good shape.

I've been looking mine over carefully, and it looks like the tube would fit
nicely, IF I relocated the blower outside the case on the back, and fitted
the new filament transformer in the space previously occupied by the
blower.

Obviously some chassis work would be involved, but for the long run, it
seemed like it might make more sense than doing the 3CX800 conversion, as I
already have a suitable filament transformer.

But because I haven't seen this done on the internet, I suspect there is
some reason it's a bad idea, or maybe just too much work.

Any real mechanical or electrical downsides to trying this?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Thanks, Scott ka9p
