Someone correct me if I am wrong, but if memory serves me, Class C should
be about 75% efficient. You can get efficiencies closer to 90% by doing
a Class E design or one of the other funky topologies. QST had an
article a few months back on an HF class E amp. Real small package but
plenty of power. But it's CW only.
If CW was my only mode of operation, I wouldn't even think of having a
big class AB amp. Doesn't make sense.
