Greetings:
I just received the Emtron DX-2 a few days ago. I am impressed. The unit
came in one shipping carton...packed very well. Yes, it was shipped with
the transformer mounted with absolutely no problems. Due to the central
location of the power transformer and the heavy guage of the chassis...it
survived the trip without a glitch.
As far as operation, it operates to specs. From the carton to on the air
was accomplished in about 20 minutes. Most of the time spent was removing
my 220v plug from the other amp and reinstalling it to the EMTRON. Tune up
was very smooth with no surprises. The factory suggested presets for Plate
and Load were on the money. I needed to make slight tuning adjustments.
The turbine type fan will probably help cool the house, at idle and heat it
at full power. It has two speeds but I never heard it kick into the second
speed yet. If the tube ever overheats, the cabinet will have to glow
first! The amp loves my Force 12 antennas.
Overdrive is hard to do with this amp. It is well protected and flat
simple to use. I was impressed that Emtron incorporated a Rich Measures
type suppressor on the tube. The engineering is FB and the construction is
very neat and professional.
