HI Jer,
Use a different transformer! :-)
As noted by Rich, Dave and the UTC catalog the center tap of the S-47
is designed to be operated at ground potential.
That transformer is also only rated at 300 mA with a choke input
filter at 1275 volts output, which is the ICAS rating so... it is way
short of adequate for a pair of 3-500Z's :-(
& a note regarding Joe's post... I think you mistook the ratings. The
numbers Jer quoted were across the full secondary.
