Grant,
I've talked over the small order problem with my local Newark Rep. She
says there's no problem with small orders like this, just try not to
nickle and dime her to death. If you'd like to order say... min 10 of the
below item, I'm pretty sure a phone call with your visa card will bring
them around. The silly ups bill will probably be more than the parts
amount.
Let me know if that gets your motor going... I'll confirm her ability to
do said small order and put you two in touch. She's all about providing
service in reasonable small quantities. You could use Newark on line to
get the proper part number, then place the order. I use my hard copy
catalog, get the current price from the rep in the phone call and place
my orders that way all the time.
cheers

: From: "Grant Youngman" <nq5t@home.com>
: In the L4-B power supply, Drake used an IRC type BWH/SPH "fail-safe"
: resistor (0.82 ohms/2W) as a fuse to protect the diode strings in the
event of
: a short or closure of the RF deck cabinet interlock.
: The resistor is still a current IRC product (as a type SPH device), but
is not a
: high demand item, and is out of stock at every IRC distributor I have
checked
: (including Drake). So while it is "available" it is essentially
Unobtainium.
: Newark wants a minimum order of 250 each to even go ask IRC for a
: production run. At $0.44 each, that makes a pretty expensive price for
: ONE ;-)
