A friend of mine bought a pair of Triton3-500Zs. The spotwelds on the
anode coolers were made with to little current -- just like Eimacs that
were produced during the last five or so years of production.

No. Amperex makes good quality 3-500Z (8008) and 3-400Z (8163) in
France. There is no difference in PEP output. Mu is c. 200.
