[AMPS] Question about Jennings UCS-500-10S

Picked up this pretty Jennings UCS-500-10S
at Shelby hamfest. I've never used a VVC before and wonder
about stops when adjusting.
How does one know the physical range limits?
Also, any tricks for connection to shaft end of cap?
A large fuse clip fits the other end just fne.
Will be hooking up a motor but want some sort of
limit switching, once I know where the limits are.
