I dont know about the 2K & 3K specifically, but I do know about the 3K-A & 2K
Classic (and Classic X). The 3K-A puts almost 4kV on the 3-500s, the 2K only
about 3kV. The Classic X puts about the same power, but has one transformer
where the 3K-A has separate Fil & HV transformer (like mentioned below). It
also has a tapped inductor and two variable caps where the 2K Classic(X) has a
variable inductor. I prefer the tapped inductor for easier band changes.
Also, the 3K-A has an extra bandswitch position (perfect for adding 160m),
built-in step start, and a slightly larger (it's deeper) case. However, it has
no "Standby" position (it's either on & inline or off & bypassed), but that's
easily fixed with a switch in the keying line going to it. There's probably
more, but I can't think of it off the top of my head.

Didn't the Original 2K (no suffix) run 3-400s?

I see.... I guess still a workhorse today! I'll have to go look and see if
it's a roller inductor or tapped (from a WARC band perspective, the roller
would be nice!)

Thanks for the good info!
