I read somewhere a "rule of thumb" is 10 ohm 10watt per 1kv
So an SB220 "needs" three of that and like it was mentioned should be the
good quality pulse rated type power resistor. Ameritron sells one.

Looks like one of your 3-500Z's is gassy & flashed over. In
addition to the added glitch resistor, be sure to check the .82 ohm, 1
watt resistor on the rectifier board. Any flashover usually takes out
that resistor.
As far as the added glitch resistor, my Ten Tec Centurion had
a similar sized resistor. I don't think the value is very critical.
