Thanks for additional comments regarding the AL-1200. If money were
no concern, a Henry 5K or Alpha 87a would be a better choice, perhaps?
At the AL-1200 price point, competitive alternatives are 10-15 year
old Alphas with 3 expensive 8874 tubes and an aged transformer. At
twice the price, the Command 2500 is an alternative. At $1500-$2000,
what alternatives are there?
Perhaps economics has no place in this discussion?
Since my antenna farm is limited (small city lot in city with 35'
height limit) to a single tower with KLM tribander and 40m mono-
bander, my requirements are different from many others. For the
type of "casual contesting" and "casual DX-ing" that I do, the amp
has been adequate. For a "world-class" DXpedition and/or contest
operation, something else would be better suited, obviously.
What opinions about the Eimac 3cx1200 tube exist?
