I just tried using a DEO QSK-1500 hundred for the first time since I bought
it a couple of years ago and it doesn't work. I've done some trouble
shooting on the unit, which is rather straightforward, and determined that
D5 is not working.

I determined this because the high voltage is less than 200 volts when I
key the unit. I then removed the fuse lamp which isolates D5 from D3 and D4
. I then removed the high voltage, wire going to the feed thru capacitor
FT4. I extended the high voltage wire and put it on D4 and when I keyed the
unit the voltage was around 485 volts. When I touched D5 and keyed the unit
the voltage fell to around 185 volts. Resistance measurements were a lot
different across D5 than they were across D3 and D4.

According to the QSK 1500 service and technical manual, D3, D4 and D5 are
all suppose to be KS-1001 units. I have no idea what the parameter are for
a KS-1001 pin diode.

Does anyone out there know what the parameters are so that I can try to
find a replacement pin diode for my QSK-1500. Better yet, does anyone know
which pin diode can be used to replace it?

I want to use the QSK-1500 with an Ameritron ALS-600 solid state amp for
casual QSO's when 75 watts just won't do the trick.

Thanks in advance..de John/K4WJ
