Yes, pdf's are cross platform, which is a very good thing indeed. There
is free software to read pdf's and to write them too (Ghostscript, being
one probably many examples).
Personally it is not a book feel I'd have much use for, but if you do it
at all, PLEASE do the world a favor and make it platform independant.
