I believe you are trying to say the resistance is related to the
cross-sectional area of the conducting material.
Resistance is directly proportional to the resistivity.
(short, fat conductor have lower resistance than long, skinny ones.)

R = rho*L/A
     rho = resistivity, L = conductor length, A = cross-sectional area.
