I've never found ringing. I have found a 'parasitic' resonance which accentuated
a harmonic, although the PA in question didn't oscillate. But pulsing wasn't
necessary to find that.

I guess if one pulsed the tube with a pulse generator  i.e. a pulse of 'dc' and
no RF cycles, it would prove matters. An oscilloscope would be the best device
to use then.
