I think Maurie and Jon have hit it: these days, RF is a 'carrier' for the digital stuff, and the competent engineers go elsewhere - or retire. Last week I was on a CAD course. Naturally, I argued when told that the CAD would give me the variation in carrier power with modulation.....and upset things by pointing out that there's big difference between 'Bit Error Ratio' (which people generally mean when they refer to BER) and 'Bit Error Rate'. Even the course teachers get things wrong... 73 Peter G3RZP -- FAQ on WWW: http://www.contesting.com/FAQ/amps Submissions: amps@contesting.com Administrative requests: amps-REQUEST@contesting.com Problems: owner-amps@contesting.com |
