There is a CISPR (International committee on radio interference) standard
around which calls for immunity to a 3volt/metre carrier, modulated to 80%
with 1 KHz, for 0.15 to 80MHz. This is to give a 30dB SNR on the telephone.
The Japanese are trying to have this changed to drop to 0.4v/m at 80 MHz, on
the basis that they have 60 million telephones, and only a few hundred
affected by RF!!
If you know which part of the US National Standards are on CISPR, you could
contact them with a view to influencing the US vote. The ARRL know about
this and are doubtless lobbying hard.
