In a message dated 97-03-26 00:20:02 EST, you write:

<< Put your hand over the vent every few minutes...if it feels warmer than
when
you are rag-chewing on SSB or CW, turn it down some more. These things
aren't broadcast rigs. And if they were, most of us could never own one. >>

I wonder what the vent temp should be. I was thinking about putting one
of those digital thermometers probes on top of the vent. You know the kind
you can buy at radio shack that has dual readout, indoor/outdoor type. I
wonder how high
those little digital thermometers will read. Are fan failuers something to
worry about?
Just like we keep a lazy eye on the SWR meter this might be a good way to
keep
an eye on fan/airmovement concerns via temputure readout.
Any one tried this?

I have pretty much decided on a 91B because of the protection circuitry,
which
I couldnt bypass because I would not have a clue how to do it. And the four
year
warrenty.
Also being made in Colorado is good, they have less time to pay attention to
nice
weather and outdoor activities so that gives them more time to pay attention
to
the product. Amerition is in Mississippi we all know how much fun they have
down there...you know the sunny south and the friendly women. Makes it ruff
on Friday
and Monday quality.
Alot of the comments I got were Ameritron users who said they just did not
want to spend the extra for the Alpha. And as I have heard from the
majority, it is an ALPHA and we all know ALPHA watts are better than others :
) .....right DAVE.
I do have a AL- 811H and I sure like the little thing, but time to move on.

Sure are a lot of sharp guys here. Really good stuff.
