Why? Too much loss?
Granted, you might not need to use it very often if ever, but I can set my
operating voltage to be whatever I want it to be. No, it isn't changed, and
I probably wouldn't change it.
Would I have put one in had I done the power supply myself originally?
Probably not. But it was there already.
