Not only power supplies give problems.........some years ago, we were involved
with Part 15 Type Approval: the equipment was to work with a laptop, and a very
well known Japanese make of laptop radiated so much that Part 15 emissions were
failed - without the radio working. The manufacturer didn't want to know - but
that was a laptop with all the labels saying 'CE' and 'FCC Type number' and so
on.
However, if the manufacturer claims that special cables or filters are required
for CE compliance, he does have to say so in the accompanying user
documentation. If he doesn't, then he is in breach of the EMC Directive (except
where a vertical directive, such as the RTTE applies instead, with its
requirements). Bureaucracy gone mad.
