I think the silicon alley block rectifier is 8 kv @ 1 amp CCS. When
cutting open the dead ones, I'm told they consist of 8 x 1N5408's in
series. They are severely de-rated for current, since they are
encapsulated, and the heat can't get out.
In normal FWB / FWD / FWCT operation, the diodes in any given leg only
have a 50% duty cycle..... when a 100% load is applied.
