Subject: Re: [Amps] Zener Diodes
<Mike needed this as a replacement cathode bias diode in an old
homebrew 8877 amp with 2600V on the plate. Manfred's suggestion is
the more contemporary solution, but in any case a 50W zener is way
overkill. A 10W zener would work just fine, and these are still
available without spending a fortune.

## added note re series strings of diodes for bias. The leads on the 1N5408 +
6A10 ARE the heatsink for the diodes, so keep the leads long. Easy to mount
on vector board, as long as the holes are big, like .065+ to handle the .060
leads
of both types of diodes. ( aprx 16 gauge). Since we are talking about real
low
voltages here, the diodes can all be phys mounted in parallel..then wired in
series.
Then it all ends up being a compact assy.
