Agreed, that won't happen anytime soon, but all those requirements don't
have to happen for silicon to take over everywhere outside of certain
areas
of New Hampshire.
Check the specs for the Icom IC-PW1:
1 kW 100% duty cycle on all bands
Automatic protection against every imaginable fault
All bands 160-6 meters including WARC
Auto tuner including 70 frequency memories
Detachable control head
And more
The drawback now is price, about $5k brand new. If they can cut that in
half and up the power to the legal limit, you can pretty much say goodbye
to tube type amps. Not going to happen soon but it will happen.
