I have been told recently that both the Icom and Yaesu solid state amps that
are out now are pretty critical when it comes to their supplied voltage. I was
told that if you have anything over 220 volts you are risking catastrophic
failure ( letting the smoke out of key parts ) rendering the amps nothing more
than nice door stops. I was told that a buck buster transformer is the cure for
