It's always been a bit of a problem with Radcom, and I guess, QST. Most
hams these days aren't that interested in technical matters, while
listening on the bands, very few are interested in operating decently,
either. (I'm not knocking the the codeless HF entries here - most of the
bad operating is from people old to know better - why, some of them have
been on the longer than I have!) I wonder if it's because ham radio now is
cheaper as a hobby than it ever has been.
My disillusionment with the current state of RSGB means I only offer
articles to QEX now, not RSGB. And I believe that the average UK ham is
better represented where it matters by being a member of ARRL.
