Well, if you feel so strongly about it then perhaps it is best that you unsubscribe.

For me, being a passionate amp builder, I love to see how others are venturing down the path less traveled.

Daring to stretch the boundaries is exactly how society moves forward. Whether it's in electronics, robotics, computing, motor sports or even building "illegal" amplifiers, it is good for everybody in that the science is moving forward.

I live in a country where 400 Watts at the output socket of the amplifier is the legal limit. I own 9 amplifiers. Some bought and some built. They range from 572Bs to YC156. They are not illegal. I'm allowed to have them and use them. It is up to me to do the right thing.

Similarly, all the cars on the road in this country do well in excess of our national speed limit, yet they remain freely available for everybody to buy. They are not illegal.

I subscribe to this group and others to learn stuff. Some of the things that Scott and Jim are doing and sharing with us in this amplifier build are new to me and of immense interest.

Keep it coming. I love it.

73 and thanks, Alek VK6APK.

I'm unsubscribing. Too many threads on here showing someone building
illegal amps. I've been a ham since 1952, always built my own amps. My
blood pressure goes up too much nowadays when I see some one bragging about
building an illegal amp.

Hello Mark,

I'm pretty sure I heard him say that this was his 'personal amp'.

I've built my share of high power amps, which could exceed the FCC
limits, but I don't.

Decades ago, someone once told me 'Integrity is what you do when no one
is looking', and I think it's really a good definition.

The amp builder/owner of this amp seems to be building a really solid
amp.? What he does with it, is his business, not mine.

I understand the concept where some folks think that no one should own
something that could be used illegally.

That being said, I am not even sure that this amplifier will be used
in this country. I do know that there are other countries that don't
have the same regulations the U.S. has.

Anyway ... This is an "Amplifier" group. I build HF amplifiers myself,
use amps others have built, and even own a few Henry amps, one being
an 8K, which can easily exceed FCC power regulations.? I have learned
a lot (my goal) from all of them, including this build. Especially
this build.

Pete,

Technically, it's neat thing to follow.? It is my understanding the
owner plans on using it on the air.? If so, IMHO, this is just a display
of a low level of personal integrity.? No way to justify it when
compared to the rules (laws).

OK, I'm obviously coming to this really late, but I'm perplexed - what
is the point of a 12 KW CCS amplifier in the amateur service, where
power is limited to 1500 watts?

Misc info on how this project goes together.
Bottom of RF deck cabinet will hold the blower, fil xfmr, etc, etc.

The HV supply will reside in a separate cabinet, with the pair of
150 lb
magnespec plate xfmrs, FWB assy, contactors, 20 x 2500uf lytics etc.
