Webster's: edit = to alter, adapt, or refine especially to bring about
conformity to a standard or to suit a particular purpose

Contest sponsors: edit = correcting typo's

Surely you wouldn't expect anyone to use "edit", when "correcting typo's" is
so conveniently available?
