Tom,

There are a lot of the top guys in the Sprint using SO2R. They are very
skilled at it. They think it helps their score and it probably does given
their usual finish.

Here in W1, I use SO2R and K1KI usually does a single radio effort with just
a few band changes. It always seems that we end up less than 10 QSOs apart.
So it makes a good case for just using 1 radio and keeping your focus.
Especially in a contest as frenetic as the Sprint. (So2R is lots easier in
contests where you can CQ on one frequency and chase other people who are
Cqing.)

The goal of quality SO2R operating is that no one listening can tell you are
using two radios. I.e., it is smooth and you are always listening. Don't
do like KU1CW did last weekend and call 1 minute long CQs on your second
radio while you are doing something else on your first. Also take take the
time to make sure no one is on a frequency before you start blasting out
second radio CQs.

Randy, K5ZD
