Hi Ralph. agree with all you said. you might mention separating the existing top section. Sometimes not easily done without special measures. It's been a while, but I would first spray WD40 thru bolt holes (thinking Rohn 25). If stubborn, I used a scissors car jack between a couple boards that were cut to fit within the tower.
