Terry,

I should have researched this before my past post. In the RDX, the two
different “deadlines” are shown here in the rules:
12. Log Submission Terms
12.1 Logs must be submitted to the contest sponsors within 14 days after the
end of the contest (no later than 5.04.2015).
12.2 An applicant aiming for a spot in the "Top 3" list of any contest category
(paragraph 3, 3.3) must submit his logs within 36 hours after the end of the
contest.
Were the logs removed from the WRTC listing beyond the 36 hour deadline or the
2 week deadline? If they were beyond the 2 weeks, sure, wipe the slate clean.
If we are talking about the award deadline, leave ‘em in.

Hi Bob,

Those late did not meet the rules; therefore, they have no official
score. The late logs are not subjected to as much scrutiny; just the
computer cross-check. In the 'old days', late logs didn't even get
that courtesy. I don't know about non-CQ contests, but I suspect that
if you send in a log after the deadline to the WAE or RDXC that you will
get NO points, not even a listing with italics.

The most highly-publicized log problem in the CQWW last year came about
from someone who manipulated their log moments before the deadline by
adding bogus QSOs. Do you think that we should let people 'enter' after
the deadline and after they had a chance to see the public logs we post?
When should the 'unofficial deadline (wink wink) for WRTC aspirants' be?

The deadline is the deadline.

Terry,

It seems to me that WRTC competitors really wouldn’t care so much about the
“award” in any particular contest; they simply want the placement ranking to
validate WRTC credits. Rule C clearly says “award” and logically is limited to
that particular contest. I don’t see how an “award” for a particular contest
can possibly stop the WRTC from accepting the placement ranking. Does the WRTC
require a plaque or certificate to validate ranking in a contest? If a WRTC
aspirant ranks in the published standings, even though he forgoes his right to
an “award”, it really shouldn’t make any difference for WRTC qualification
points.

I say all this knowing I’m going to get dropped ANOTHER 1000 points behind our
NA#4 TL if my idea is accepted. ;-)

Just trying to be fair about “definitions”.

2 cents offered…

The rules of the CQ WPX Contest state clearly that "C. Logs submitted or
postmarked after the deadline may be listed in the results, but are not
eligible for awards."
This means not eligible for first place, second place, or last place awards.
