To all RTTY ops:
Please join us in this week's half hour NS RTTY(North American Sprint contest,
RTTY mode, sponsored by the Northern CaliforniaContest Club), this Thursday
evening local time (Friday 0145Z).
Many regulars participated last week, plus wewere pleased to see the return of
AD4TJ, WV4P, and AC0E. But the big news last week was K9TI, whose contacts with
us were thefirst RTTY contacts he’s made EVER! Talkabout a baptism by fire!
Thanks to allof you who joined us, and we hope to see you all on a regular
basis!
For those of you who are new to this contest, weuse a variation of the NCJ’s
Sprint QSY rule – 1 KHz QSY’s rather than 5 KHz –and allow duplicate contacts
after one intervening contact. If you need a full explanation of thesespecial
rules, send me an e-mail, and I’ll give you all the details, e.g., aprecise
definition of our QSY rule.
For those of you using the ever popular N1MM+logger, the contest module to use
is NSRTTYDUPE. A good set of functionkeys has now been posted to the N1MM+
Website's function key gallery. When you select “File >Open Log in
Database>Associated Files >Digital Key Filename”, click on the "Change"button,
and N1MM+ will prompt you to automatically download and assign theappropriate
function key file, which is called “NSRTTYDUPE.MC”. Be sure to put your own
callsign and nameinto this file, and otherwise tailor it to your personal
operating preferences. Thereason for the “NOT YET” message in the F11 key is to
tell a caller that you’dreally love to work them, but you can’t do it yet, in
view of our “oneintervening contact” rule.
After the contest, please remember to submit yourscores to www.3830scores.com.
It’s easy – on 3830, the name of thiscontest is “NCCC RTTY Sprint”.
Reportingyour score, whether it be big or small, helps build enthusiasm for
this event. Thatin turn increases participation for future editions, which
benefits all of us.
Remember to try 15 meters at the beginning ofthis Thursday night's contest – 15
has often been open at 0145Z lately.
