Mick, I can understand about certificates being a big task, there
being so many to make in a year with all of the various contests, etc.
And it is a financial loser. But if you are going to make a promise
(especially by mail) then you better keep it in a reasonable time
frame. I have tried, as has K0RF, to get the certificate for the
"Big Colorado Shootout" with AA6TT a number of years ago, but
to no avail--even after it was promised as being at the top of the list.
So maybe they need help, you say. I have volunteered to help and
I have a large format (11x17--16 ppm) laser printer for oversize
certificates, but got no response.

I am still waiting for my certificate for my lifetime subscription--something
they promised in the advert. but I only get angry responses when I ask
about it. And that was a lot of years ago. Their excuse is that they
didn't have many takers on the deal--well that makes it easier then!

But what about plaques? There are not nearly as many, and they
actually make money on the deal. Sponsors of plaques that have
never been received should be pretty upset about it. W0UA
won a plaque from here in CQWWCW in 1995 and we haven't seen it
yet. In fact I paid $50 for a duplicate one when the scores came out
last year and have yet to see it either. At some point this goes
beyond incompetence and borders on mail fraud!

I sponsor two plaques for ARRL contests, but won't sponsor one
for CQ until they clean up their act.
