I can see this being easily accomplished by not asserting PTT. On CW, if logging program is also handling the paddles, then it could also refuse to assert PTT for both canned messages & hand sent bits.

Great idea, especially for rigs where it might not be so obvious to the operator
if the radio is set to work split.
