"Sentiment is still in favor of keeping the categories separate, but it
is getting closer. The WPX RTTY contest only has one single operator
category and does not distinguish between SO and SOA. Including the RTTY
entrants in the survey may have skewed the results. Another factor is
that the high number of multipliers in the WPX Contest provides much
less advantage to operators using DX spotting so there is less need to
have separate categories."
Great work from K5ZD. Is it possible to say what the numbers were
without the RTTY respondents? Also, there is something about folks who
are "having fun & giving points to others" or "chasing contacts for WPX
or other awards" having a say about things for those in the game - the
trend I would be most interested in watching is what those in the SO
game thought about what should become of the SO game.
Since what most moderate interpretations of assistance seem to be
doesn't change the game so much in WPX, perhaps what the existing
category participant stakeholder feels about a SO/SOA merge in
radiosport overall might be able to be seen here.
Strip out non-participant respondents from 2009 & the RTTY respondents &
then there is two years of results that something might actually be able
to be seen from. I think that could be really helpful.
