Doesn't the NAQP have a limit of 100 watts for all station? Why isn't
it more popular?

 From http://www.ncjweb.com/naqprules.pdf

6. Output power must be no more than 100 W for eligible entries. Use of
external amplifiers capable of more than 100 W output is not allowed.
QRP (5 W) entries will be recognized in the results.

And, if memory serveth correctly, during the WRTC championship in Russia
a year or so ago, no amps were allowed, and the crews survived.

The feedback from the Russian WRTC seemed to be that it was the most
equal competition held to date.

Of course, there's a significant number of hams who think anything over
5 watts is a sacrilege. :) (But, alas, only a small fraction of these
actually enter any "real" contest.)

p.s. Personally, I enter contests to see if my current setup is still
working, and to assure myself that early onset of Alzheimer's hasn't
affected my mental capabilities too greatly. (Early onset started almost
immediately after I received my first Novice License back in the sp*rk
gap daze, because everyone told me that one needs to be somewhat
mentally unbalanced to be a ham.)
