It seems that once there was the idea of getting one point for sending your
info and one point for receiving his, hence two points per QSO. It may have
gone beyond that, in that you might have been able to claim one point credit
for hearing him even if you couldn't get his attention. This goes back a bit
before my time. Perhaps it's good research topic for someone. Didn't I hear
K1DG say once that he has every issue of QST going back to the beginning?
