Haven't worked much DX but the band was open to Texas well into the
night - and again for about two hours this morning. (it was a lot
better during CQ WW CW)

Agreed.
It would be interesting to see a "long-form" 10m contest. Contest
period a month long, maximum 24hr. operating time during that period,
simple exchange (RS(T)/QTH/Name), all modes. Something to encourage
people to get on the air.
