Sorry if you've seen this already. I sent it several days ago but never
saw it come back to me from the reflector. (I'll probably get a dozen
copies of it now...) In all seriousness, thanks to Trey and Lyndon for
keeping these reflectors up and running for the contest and DX communities.

     Comments:

This was my first Sprint. I thought this was a difficult and
demanding contest. I was pretty frustrated the first hour or
so just trying to get the hang of it. Things became easier
as the contest went on. The first thing which was immediately
apparent is that my CW ability needs vast improvement if I am to
continue CW contesting. I felt like I was driving people crazy
asking for repeats, especially the guys running 40+ WPM who
would not QRS, even when asked, even on the 4th repeat request!

Still, it was good training, and I guess this is how I will get
better at CW contesting. Thanks for all the repeats!

I, by virtue of my statement below, have taken part in the

1995 NCJ NORTH AMERICAN SPRINT on 02/12/1995

conscientiously applying my most ethical interpretation of the
     published rules for this contest.

Feb 1995 CW Sprint

N1EE/6

QSO Mult Score
180 40 7200

After participating in this contest for about 16 years, you would think I would
have it all figured out!

Station

TS-930, 1000 watt amp, KT-34, 2el 40, and an 80 dipole; all about 8 feet above
a 30 foot tall building.

Band QSO's Time rate/hr
20 76 131 35
40 68 73 56
80 36 36 60

I know all of you over 250 QSO people have SOME drop-off in rate during your
last 10 minutes on a band vs. your first ten minutes, but here is my rate for
the first 25 minutes on 40

first ten minutes- 13 QSO's, or 78/hr
next five " - 3 QSO's, or 36/hr
next ten " - 13 QSO's, or 78/hr

In other words, I had an effective rate of 78/hr for 20 of my first 25 minutes
on 40. Assuming I could have had a NORMAL drop off to 70/hr for my time on 40,
and add that to my actual 60/hr on 80, and I would have had a rate of 67/hr for
the second half of the contest. Compare that to my rate of 35/hour for the
first half of the contest, which I spent on 20.

Conclusions

1. I need a two hole Alpha, but only for 20 meters

2. I'm schizophrenic

3. I should only operate the second half of the Sprint
