Wednesday 2 other locals and I bet pizza on the contest. Started the contest
hoping to make alot of Qs and have ablast. A lite rain shower had quietted
the line noise and was working alot of long ground wave, and a few quick
opennings up the east coast. Things where looking good.
Sat morning the band had signs of openning. Worked a few dx
staions and ran a few stations. Then the line noise started, peaking as
high as S9 at times to the west. The 761 did a fair job of knocking it
down, so I was able to work the big guns. The second and third layer
stations where never heard. I listened to WS4F running em but I couldnt
hear a thing.
Saturday nite I checked into all the local 10m nose picker nets. Made
a few guys happy giving the "well ur 59 into GA" when they where real weak,
several I believe took me serious on the signal reports I gave them!
Sunday am brought a few more dx stations and a short run into VE3. Basically
conditions stunk, but I won my pizza, the others gave up :)
Maybe next year will be better.
