FWIW, I have no informed opinion of whether rules were broken in spirit or in
fact. I am pro- remote operating, as long as operators are honest about the
nature of their operating and the QTH of the station they are operating, but I
still find operating my own station with my own antennas to be more satisfying
(if more frustrating at times).
So, with all that out of the way... I like the idea of livestreaming a contest
from a contester's point of view. Considering the number of people who enjoy
watching esports or twitch feeds of gaming....I don't get the appeal
personally, but some people apparently derive enjoyment from and have interest
in such things.
If livestreams attract interest to our sport/hobby, that would be a good thing,
I think.
I would love to see contest rules evolve and best practices emerge to support
this without giving unfair advantages to streamers or requiring all of us to
start streaming to be competitive.
