Some people seem to confuse looking at the scoreboard with publishing to it.
By all means, feel free to ignore it. It is perfectly valid to consider
it meaningless, distracting, de-incentivizing and against the spirit of a
boy and his radio.
But, please DO post to it (if you have Internet.) It should be considered
good sportsmanship at this point; just like "please do submit your log."
Afraid of leaking info?
* band info? - You can chose not to publish it
* break info? - Slow down your publishing rate
* category info? - See below
But seriously folks... conditions are usually different enough in different
QTHs, stations, etc. that when someone else takes breaks or what band
they're on is largely irrelevant to your effort.
As for category.... yes, the online scoreboard indicates category. But so
does 3830. The only defense against category shopping is to stay mute
until after the log deadline. That seems distinctly less fun. Plus,
category shopping has an obvious solution: require pre-registration of
category, just as NAQP does for teams.... or just don't worry about it.
