I think its safe to assume that myself and most of the N6RO team are (very)
serious competitors, and we use the online scoreboard regularly to allow
friends, non active team members and family (as well as the world at large)
to track our progress and get more enjoyment out of our involvement in
Radiosport. We fully endorse its use.
I don't look at the scoreboard regularly when I am operating as its too
much of a distraction at the level we roll, but certainly enjoy sharing my
progress with the interested.
Sure maybe a close race may spur a competitor to really push and try and
catch up so to speak, but all this does is elevate the competition. I love
being pushed to the max! IMO trying to keep your status a secret is a
dubious strategy at best.
A agree with Ron, Online scoreboard is the present and future. Its great
for Radiosport. it engages people hams and not, serious and casual. It
allows for a stadium for our competition. It exposes potential new
contesters to radiosport. there are lots of positives and very few
negatives.
Look forward to working you all from N6RO this weekend.. goold luck and
seeya on the scoreboard. Ill be the 15m op.. watch my score and give me a
run for my money!
