I did that one year.  I called and called a station on 40 SSB late one 
night in a contest.  He never came back to me, and no one told me I was 
calling him out of band.  I guess there were so few people listening at 
the time that there wasn't anyone around to warn me.  I finally realized I 
was on the wrong VFO and worked him first call where he was listening.
