CQ WW Contest Committee Update

Last fall’s CQ WW contests experienced the largest level of participation in
its history. We have received over 12,000 entries! That is a 17% increase in
received logs over the previous year! As we all know ten meters has not been
a useful band to any degree for several years. When ten returns, activity in
the CQ WW will be simply unbelievable!
The CQ WW Contest Committee wants to give you a progress report. Last fall
we asked each of our DX advisors to develop a working group of 5-10 regional
contesters. The purpose was to provide a channel for information transfer to
and from local groups. So far we have DX advisory groups in the UK, France
and Spain. Our DX Advisors are amongst the most experienced contesters in
the world. If you are interested in participating please contact
questions@cqww.com for further information.
We plan on releasing your log reports for SSB in early May. A password will
be sent to the email address you used to submit your log. You have several
methods to verify your category and other information. Please go to *
cqww.com*. On the main page, look under logs received, SSB list. If you
submitted an electronic log, your call, category and claimed score will be
listed. If you submitted a paper log, your call will not be listed. In
addition, when you receive your log checking report in May (electronic
logs), please review it. If you notice any significant errors or you have
questions, please contact questions@cqww.com .
On another subject, the CQ WW Contest Committee is quite aware that certain
individuals may not understand what assisted means. You are in the assisted
category if you use ANY QSO spotting and/or assistance system either via the
Internet or internally via Skimmers. If you did receive spotting help and d
*id not claim the ASSISTED category*, please contact questions@cqww.com. In
the end, there are essentially two large categories: no QSO spotting help
and QSO spotting help (assisted).
Lastly, the CQ WW Contest Committee will release open logs in mid-May for
SSB. The open log policy has been welcomed by the contest community. Among
the many interesting facts to uncover for yourself with open logs are
propagation openings and log operating conditions from another part of the
world. We’re extremely pleased to be leading the charge in this area of
contest administration.
