There have not been any date-related anomalies reported yet from NA. There
should not be - the date storing algorithm in the .QDF file itself is good
up until 2168. I doubt it will be a problem for most of us...
NA reads the date straight from the computer's operating system. The
operating system gets it from the BIOS (basic input/output system) that runs
the core of the computer. If the BIOS is not Y2K-compliant, it will show
the wrong date to the operating system, which will give the wrong date to
NA. If your computer's BIOS and operating system are working correctly, NA
will have the right date.
I have a 486DX4-100 motherboard that is not all that old (purchased in 1995)
which will not keep the correct date. When the computer boots up, the date
is wrong. You can correct the date, and as long as you don't shut off the
machine everything is fine, but if you do shut it down, you have to correct
it all over again. Again, this is not an NA issue - the BIOS in this
machine is hosed.
