REVISION HISTORY

North American Contest Logging Program (NA)

======================================================================
=======

Rev 9.00 - Major revision adding configurable-contests, DVP support,
XMS,

           single port networks, etc.

Rev 9.01

* With grid squares as multipliers, program would crash when pulling

grid from previous QSO if station had been worked before (tnx
K8MR).

* Program would not bandswitch to 432 MHz SSB (but CW was OK!).

* Program now checks for presence of any template files before
continuing.

Rev 9.02

* ARRL DX Contest (W/VE) would default rcvd exchange to country
prefix.

* RATE AND TIME SUMMARY (Ctrl-F9) would crash with less than two
QSOs in

    log.

Rev 9.03

* Alt-M window for countries/states now increments only when already
in

    window.

* WPX contest would not initialize a new log correctly, would count
QSO nr

as multiplier. Problem disappeared when log re-loaded.

* Cursor added to SET BANDS window to show band being edited.

Rev 9.04

* Field data would be lost when serial data from connected radio COM
port

was received during logging of a QSO (tnx K8DD, NT8V).

* When writing output files to disk, only the last band's dupesheet
would

be printed in multi-band contests (tnx N8CQA). Program would work
OK

    going directly to printer.

* Fixed several minor cosmetic problems with initializing log files
that

would go away when the file was re-loaded.

* IARU contest would not score QSO in your zone correctly.

* Pressing a message F-key would disrupt F5 or Exchange message
being sent

(F-key was interpreted as part of "type-ahead" of callsign).

* The SET BANDS window now comes up before the optional save to

DEFAULT.QDF. Also, redesigned SET BANDS window to be less
confusing.

* NAU VIEW QDF (F7) function would not find path to QSO records
correctly -

fixed in version 1.11 (tnx W8FN).

* When using countries and domestic mults, country mults that look
like a

domestic mult would not score correctly - for example: Finland
(OH) and

    Ohio (OH).

* Text commands NORADIO and RADIO added to manually disable or
enable

frequency control with a connected computerized radio (tnx W8FN).

* Added -GW command line switch to restrict logging grids only to
those

located in the western hemisphere. This saves memory, and adds
capacity

for over 1000 more QSOs in contests using typical 640K DOS
computers.

Rev 9.05

* If editing a previous QSO while using linked computers and a
remote QSO

is logged, the scrolling log window would mess up the QSO you were

editing (or even scroll it off the screen. To fix this, incoming
QSOs

will not be logged while editing, but will log when cursor returns
to

bottom line of the logging window (tnx WA0DYJ).

* NAU ADJUST TIMES IN QDF (F6) function did not work - fixed in
version

    1.12 (tnx K8DD/AC8W).

* NAU MERGE QDF FILES function would not work unless filename you
were

merging to already existed - fixed in version 1.13 (tnx WA0DYJ).

Rev 9.06

* Call/Rst/Rst/Qth/Text field format and QRP ARCI scoring rules
added to

TE version 1.01 and NA version 9.06 (tnx K8DD).

* If a single mode contest was selected, only the lowest band could
be

    operated - fixed.

Rev 9.07

* Revised computerized radio freq/mode interface. Radio is now
polled

every second for frequency and mode, which provides updating when
two

radios are switched onto a common COM port. Tnx AB6FO for
suggestion.

* Beta version of above feature uncovered problems with editing
previous

QSOs while a radio is sending frequency/mode data to the computer.
The

log time and current callsign on screen would get scrambled -
fixed

    (tnx AB6FO).

* "DX" QSOs in NAQP would crash if station had been worked before -
fixed

    (tnx N0BSH and others).

Rev 9.08

* Red face time for the author - forgot to remove some print
statements

that were used for diagnosing problems in 9.07, would hang with
Error

25 (Device Fault) if printer was not on when starting NA.
Apologies

    to everyone.

Rev 9.09

* Incoming QSO from another computer would disturb next QSO band
label on

local computer - fixed (tnx WA0DYJ).

* Added feature to disable stopping a auto repeat CQ on a keypress,
so that

stations can be checked without stopping the repeating CQ. The
text

command NOSTOPCQ disables stopping, while STOPCQ enables stopping.
Note:

this feature is volatile, which means it defaults to STOPCQ each
time you

start NA. Tnx to AB6FO for the idea.

* All of the .MLT files except SECTIONS.MLT were missing data in the
call

area field, so Practice Mode would not work - fixed (tnx W0UR,
W4XD,

    WA3HAE and others).

Rev 9.10

* With a computerized radio connected, the "[" and "]" keys will
tune the

radio in 100 Hz steps. "[" moves frequency down 100 Hz, while "]"
moves

    up 100 Hz.

* Pop-up windows are now exited in a more consistant manner. The
<esc> key

will now allow exiting without updating, while either the <Enter>
key or

<Ctrl-Enter> exits with updating. Affected windows are: Edit Log
File

Comments, and COM Port Setup. (Tnx V73C)

* Current QSO line would disappear in domestic contests when doing
Alt-M,

then returning to logging screen - fixed (tnx WA2SRQ).

* Corrected scoring for the QRP ARCI rules (tnx K8DD).

* Added "$" character for inserting sent RST in a CW message (tnx
K8DD).

Rev 9.11

* Practice Mode would crash in contests using both country and list

    multipliers - fixed (tnx W4XD).

* Points rules for ARRL VHF SS and VHF QSO Party were reversed
inside NA -

    fixed (tnx W4IY/WA0DYJ, AB4RU).

* Corrected error in Template Editor (TE) 1.02 where prefix
multipliers

would not be de-selected when creating a new template from one
which had

prefix multipliers. This was found by NA crashing while using the

the Scandanavian Activity Contest (from SAC) template
(SAC_SAC.TMP).

    New SAC_SAC.TMP template provided.

* Messages between linked computers sent with Alt-G are now logged
to the

file filename.MSG, located in your QDF directory. When sending a
message

the Alt-G window displays the last five messages. (tnx WA0DYJ &
the

W4IY VHF crew for the idea.)

Rev 9.12

* When using packet and pressing Alt-M or Ctrl-F9, the packet window
would

be missing when returning to the Logging Screen. Alt-O would not
reopen

the packet window, Alt-T would crash. Fixed (tnx K8DD, N8CQA &
K8AQM).

Rev 9.13

* Problems fixed with printing logs:

    - Zone multipliers were marked with only the 1st digit (CQWW).

    - Band log files (filename.160, filename.80, etc.) would not print

      unless multi-multi.

    - By-transmitter files would print in the default directory, not
to the

subdirectory defined by NAQDF. This required that the run/mult
xmtr

files (which were filename.RUN & filename.MUL) had to be renamed
to

filename.R and filename.M because filename.MUL is the multiplier
list

file - there can't be two files with the same name.

    - Mult totals at bottom of CQWW page did not add up. This number
was

erroneously the number of QSOs that were some sort of mult (zone
or

country) - now, the number is correctly the total zones and
countries

      per page.

    - Added year of contest to title at top of Summary Sheet.

    - Totals at bottom of page were not always printed (tnx W8FN).

* The CALLSIGN.LOG and filename.NOT files are now written in the
sub-

directory defined by NAQDF along the the .QDF files (tnx W8FN).

* The Packet Spot Alert Beep can now be turned off in the SPOTS
window

    (tnx K8MR).

* NAU version 1.14 recognizes Alt-F1 in addition to F11 for
selecting the

Make Country List function for users with 84 key keyboards (tnx
W8FN).

Rev 9.14 LIMITED RELEASE FOR TESTING

Rev 9.15

* Support for Yaesu radios added (finally!). FT990 and FT1000
selections

added to radio menu, both should work the same except SET
ALTERNATE VFO

(minus key) works different (better) on FT1000. FT990 SHOULD
work, we're

waiting on Yaesu to update KG8EF's radio for verification. FT990
choice

SHOULD work for FT890 (has not been verified).

    ICOM IC-725, IC-726, IC-728, IC-729 also IC-736 added to radio
menu.

    ******************************** NOTE
***********************************

With the added radio selections, the radio choice in old logs will
have

to be reset when using 9.14. This only has to be done once per
log.

***

A big note of thanks goes to K3TUP for shipping his FT1000 all the
way

to Michigan so I could debug the Yausu software interface.

* FILLTIMES would not interpolate log times properly (tnx
K9LA/ZF1A).

* NA HELP file now operates from disk rather than from memory to
relieve

    demands for conventional memory.

* When in the LOAD FILE screen, PgUp and PgDn can be used to view
all .QDF

files if more than 50 are in the directory path.

* The ANNOUNCEMENT WINDOW would not refresh after resetting the
SPOTS

filter - now shows results of changing filtering.

* The packet spot TIME LIMIT is now applied as part of spot
filtering.

Before, if the spot time exceeded the limit, it was simply
discarded.

Spots are now discarded only if there is a difference of two or
more

between the hours digits of the spot and current time (this is
required

so NA can make a good estimate of the DATE of the spot, otherwise
spot

filtering across 23Z/00Z would not work correctly).

* Spots of the current callsign under the cursor can now be entered

manually into the ANNOUNCEMENT LIST by pressing Ctrl-Enter. This
works

similar to sending a spot using Alt-F3.

* The Packet Spot Beep would be disabled erroneously depending on
exact

combination of options set in Spot Filter - fixed.

* Added support for the G8BPQ Packet Switch for TNC interface. See

    UPDATE.DOC for details.

* NAU version 1.15 re-arranges the function key definitions, and
adds a

new file conversion. DIVIDE .QDF BY BAND will take a .QDF file
and

break it down into separate files for each band, using the
original file

    name with band-specific extentions.

* NAQSL version 3.04 has the following revisions:

    - Individual QSLing using the LOCATE function is now easier to
use in

that you don't have to exit and reinitiate LOCATE with each
callsign.

    - A new function has been added to the PRINT menu: EDIT/PRINT
ADDRESS

LABEL allows manually creating an address label for your return
QSL.

Sorry - no links to Buckmaster or CallBook databases...

Rev 9.16

* On CQWW log sheets, Maritime Mobile stations were always shown as
zone

multipliers, and invisibly counted as a non-existant country
multiplier.

Note: score & mults shown in the Score Window and on the Summary
Sheet

would be correct - only the mult notations and total at bottom of
the

    log sheet were wrong.

* Packet spots in the ANNOUNCE WINDOW would always show tenths of
KHz to

be zero. This bug was only present in 9.15. (Tnx WE9V)

* SEND PACKET SPOT (Alt-F3) was broken when we added manual
additions to

the spot list. This bug was only present in 9.15. (Tnx
W8FN/WD8AUB)

* Two special CW characters have been added for use within keyer
messages.

A plus (+) character in the message will cause the CW speed to
increase

4 WPM, while a minus (-) character will cause the CW speed to
decrease

4 WPM. You may use multiple characters in a message - for
example:

++5NN 04-- will cause the speed to increase 8 WPM, send the
exchange,

then decrease 8 WPM (i.e., original speed).

* The BAND MAP WINDOW has been enhanced to include
stations/frequencies

from incoming packet spots. New stations (non-dupes) are shown in
bold

while stations already worked are normal color. Also, you can now

"point-and-shoot" from the BAND MAP WINDOW similar to the ANNOUNCE
MENTS

    window using Ctrl-RtArrow.

* Added report of QSOs per point value to the POINTS BREAKDOWN in
the

    .BRK file.

If you cannot modem into the LTA BBS and you want the latest version,
just send me E-MAIL or leave a message at 216-565-9950. We'll send it
to you. (AC1O's went out today).

Hope that helps.

Direct questions to me.
